Egg-cellent Addition for Easter and Your Gadget Drawer
Jan and I have used traditional hard-cooked egg slicers for years, so the idea of one that would cut wedges as well as slices and dices peaked our curiosity. The design: Available in either a stainless or black soft-plastic finish, this egg slicer looks very much like any other with one exception. It consists of 2 wire cutting devices instead of one. The first is the traditional wire slicer design. The second has 3 criss-crossed wires that will cut an egg into 6 wedges. How it works: Place a hard-cooked egg either vertically or horizontally in the cup holder. For slices and dices, lift and use the first slice-cutting surface only. For wedges, you need to lift both cutting surfaces, but only use the wedge-wire one to cut, letting the slice-cutting surface lay open. What we like: Clever multiple-purpose function. Just as easy to use and as durable as any classic egg slicer only better--more versatile and doesn't take up any more storage space. Also easy to clean--you can put it in the dishwasher or brush wires clean with a plastic kitchen scrub brush. Details: Depending on whether you choose compact or full size model, with stainless or rubber-coated finish, the AMCO 3-in-1 egg slicer retails from $9 to $20. To order, go to www.amazon.com
